The 80s The 90s Mix 92.9 Year 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007

I've known Daniel Butler since the 106 WLAC-FM days in the mid-80's. He is one of my favorite people. Daniel is an actor you've seen in several movies, including almost all of the "Ernest" movies (he was also a writer in each movie!). Each year he takes part in the Hope Women's Clinic Run For Life. I invited him to join us on the last Sunday of 2001. -Dec 30.

There is nothing that compares with spending time with good people, especially when they are friends! These folks are among those that I count as friends! What a time we had on this visit! I hope you get a chance to hear the interview in the Audio Archives. l-r: David Crabtree, me, Jennifer and Gary Chapman, and Keith Chapman -Dec 23

This man has an incredible story! Mitch McVicker was probably one of the most prayed-for people on the planet in Sept 1997. He was sitting next to Rich Mullins when Rich was taken home. Mitch almost died himself. His story and music is amazing. I am a big fan. Please visit www.mitchmcvicker.com and get a copy of his CD "Chasing The Horizon".  -Dec 16

Brentwood Academy is a great school with a wonderful heart! The senior class has promised to build a house for Habitat For Humanity and planned a "Titan's Titanic Tailgate" party to raise money to do it. l-r: Mark McFerran (BA), Will Reiners, Chelsea Roberts, Sarah-James Tripp, me, and Chris Sidberry -Dec 2
I did my first interview with Petra in 1982. It has been a pure pleasure to know these guys thru the years and to have the honor of premiering their latest project, "Revival". During the interview, Frank Breeden, president of the Gospel Music Association dropped by to tell us about the Hall of Fame Ceremony and Concert coming up. l-r: John Schlitt, Frank Breeden, me, Louie Weaver. -Nov 18
We met Natalie Grant very briefly at our 21st anniversary show in April. I am so glad she was able to be with us for a full interview on November 11. I like to ask artists their most memorable experience performing. I knew, for Natalie, it HAD to be singing our National Anthem at "Ground Zero" October in New York.
Good to his word, Gary Chapman brought his brand new, home-made project, "Circles and Seasons", for us to premiere! There is so much of Gary's heart and life in this great project. During the show, Mark Schultz dropped by. He had a concert in town that night. pictured l-r: Gary Chapman, Mark Schultz, and me.  -Nov 4
I've made it clear that Ceili Rain is my favorite Nashville band! You can't listen to them without loving their Celtic pop/rock sound. They came in October 28 to promote a concert that night. l-r: Skip Clevenger, Bob "Buff" Harmon, Mark , me, Bob Halligan, Raymond Arias, and in front, new kid Patrick Ross.
Some traditions are worth keeping... this is one! The Hope Clinic For Women (formerly Crisis Pregnancy Support Center) and its Run For Life was coming up and we had "the team" on hand! l-r: Daniel Butler, Kama Tate (exec dir), me, and Ashley Stiles (dir of development. (Steve Gilreath had to leave early). -Oct 21

Jaci Velasquez is a very busy young lady! Just two days earlier, she had performed the National Anthem at the White House standing next to President Bush. The next day was her 22nd birthday and she headed to Los Angles to voice a character on a Nickelodeon TV show. On this morning, we played her new Christmas CD. She's here with her dog, Dallas.  -Oct 14

I had to show you her pink fuzzy house shoes!

Rocketown was a dream of Michael W. Smith's many years ago as a place for kids to hang out. In the mid-90's it was a reality until it closed 4 years ago . It very well be a reality again very soon. This is important work folks. l-r: Shawn Hedegard (COO), me, and Dean Orrico (Exec Dir). -Oct 7

It had been 3 years since our last visit from Point Of Grace... that's way too long! Near the beginning of their "Free To Fly" tour with FFH, the ladies dropped by. Shelley Breen (holding Terry's son Cole), Terry Jones (holding son Luke), me, Denise Jones, and Heather Payne. -Sept 30
I could be satisfied with Phil Keaggy as my guest every Sunday. Besides his incredible talent as a singer/songwriter and particularly as a guitar player... he's a wonderfully humble and kind man. I appreciate my friend Phil. -Sept 23
It is always so good to see Michele Pillar! She has such a heart for people. For example, on this day, Sept 9, she dropped by to talk about a concert event (with her husband Larry Carlton, Wynonna, Mike Reid and others) in her town of Leiper's Fork which will raise money for folks in her county who need help. Isn't that what we are called to do? By the way... if you have never heard her, this woman can SING!!!

It is so good to hear Wes King back again! After a 4 year absence from the studio, Wes' new release, "What Matters Most" is a project from his heart to his twin boys, Harrison and Mitch. -Sept 2

August 12th brought us a visit from Cheri Keaggy. She brought her new release, "Let's Fly". I so much appreciate Cheri and her music!

A very funny man... comedian, Jeff Allen! We'll be watching for "Happy Wife, Happy Life" becomes a TV sitcom mid-season featuring Jeff and his comedy. It is so refreshing to see some of Jeff's caliber make it! Promoting an upcoming Lighthouse Coffeehouse appearance is: l-r: Pat Flynn, Jeff Allen, and me. -Aug 5

I love my job! This guy is just one very good reason. Gary Chapman made on of his many-visits-a-year on July 29th. He never ceases to amaze me, or make me laugh until I wheeze!

It is always a blast when Bob Bennett is in town. Besides great, live music, he is so much fun on the air! I took advantage of his offer to be a part of the whole 4-hour show. -July 22

July 8th brought us Lisa Bevill and George Pendergrass. They were visiting to promote an upcoming performance at The Lighthouse Coffeehouse. In addition to music on her CDs, we also played national jingles which Lisa sang (Doublemint gum, Toyota, and many more!). After we took pictures and they were walking out the door, a commercial came on the air featuring George!

I love it when the parents come to town! Such was the case on July 1st when Eli stopped by for a visit. His mom (Karlene) and step dad (Dan) were in town from California. GREAT people! I highly recommend Eli's latest CD, "Now The News".

What a singer/songwriter!!! On June 24th, we finally got a visit from Kyle Matthews. He's written songs recorded by Ginny Owens, Bob Carlisle, Donny McClurken and many others. Get his CD at his web site: www.kylematthews.com

Sheila Walsh has come such a long way from Ayr, Scotland to Nashville. It's also been a long journey in her very full life which has taken her from "new wave" recording artist, co-host of CBN's 700 Club, and currently a regular participant in the "Women Of Faith" conferences. I not only love her voice (she talks funny!), but to hear her speak from the depths and rich places God has taken her. -May 27

You will find these guys on our 21st anniversary show page. Two Or More is made up of 3 brothers: Walter, Eddie, and Renatto Aquas. Their great live music was enhanced with a little help from friends. Pictured at left l-r: Eddie, Pat Flynn, Glen Kimberlin (bass), Chris Mason, me, Renatto, and Walter Aquas. At right: the guys at play! -May 20

Celebrating the release of "WORD GOLD- 5 Decades of Hits", author and CCM historian Thom Granger came by to play several cuts from this double-CD release. We were even able to sneak in a little Dave Boyer!   -May 6

Jim Cole dropped by for a visit on April 8 (Palm Sunday) to plug a concert at the Lighthouse Coffeehouse.  www.jimcole.org

Just days before this show, I was thrilled to get a call that Rachael Lampa was going to be in town for the weekend. She was in midst of rehearsing for a big tour with Plus One and Stacie Orrico.    -Apr 1

I sure do appreciate this young lady. This is Jeni Varnadeau! She and her husband, Rory came by on March 18th to play Jeni's latest, "Tracing His Hand". You can visit Jeni at her web site at www.jenivarnadeau.com and you can see her husband's "Big Band" at www.dancebandcentral.com .

March 4th brought us something we'd never experienced... a double world premiere! Greg Long's CD, "Now" was to release in two days and Erin O'Donnell's "No Place So Far" two weeks later. The duo were shortly setting out on a joint promo tour with their label, WORD Records. Recent big changes in both of their lives; Erin and her husband Brad had a baby (Quinn Grace) last April and Greg married the former Jana Potter (from Avalon) last May.

Hope House International held a benefit concert featuring some very special people. It was hosted by Jonathan Pierce (left) and featured a new friend Marty Roe from the country group, Diamond Rio. Jonathan and Marty made it a great morning. -Feb 18
February 11th brought us an old friend and a new one. Steve Camp dropped by with his pastor, Dr. Dave Harrell to talk about Gatekeepers Ministries and upcoming events in the Nashville area. On the phone, we heard from Paul Overstreet, Scott & Christine Dente', and Dick & Mel Tunney. l-r: Dr Harrell, me, Steve Camp.

What a show! I want to be the President of the Ceili Rain Fan Club! The people and music of this group are as infectious as can be. I am certainly hooked! As an added bonus, there was lots of live music! On top of that, Phil Keaggy dropped by to talk about an upcoming concert and we got a live song from Phil AND Ceili Rain.  Top picture, l-r: Gretchen Priest, Phil Keaggy, me, Bob Halligan, Jr., Chris Eddy, Raymond Arias, Buddy Connolly, Skip Cleavinger, and Bob Harmon.
