Sept 7th was a very busy Sunday morning. We had new and old friend drop by. Our new friend is Josh Wilson. I appreciate this young man. In our last hour, Gordon Kennedy and Jimmie Lee Sloas visited. Gordon was a very close friend to Jerry Reed who had died less than a week earlier. Gordon shared some wonderful stories of Jerry's life and his faith. He and Jimmie also performed one of my favorite Jerry Reed songs, "A Thing Called Love". Left pic: me with Josh Wilson. Right pic: Jimmie Lee Sloas, me, and Gordon Kennedy.
I had not seen or heard from Cindy Morgan in several years. I got word that she was taking part in a special benefit concert to help a young lady (Sarah Conley) who had been struggling with cancer and left with incredible medical bills. It was so good to be with Cindy again and a joy to meet this special young lady as well. Pic: l-r Sarah Conley, me, Cindy Morgan, and Andrew Greer (indie artist and concert producer).  -Aug 31
Jim Cole is a good friend and it is always good to have him stop by for a visit... especially when he brings his guitar. I put up one of his performances from this morning on YouTube. Check our Jim's website at: www.jimcoleonline.com. -Aug 24
A true pioneer of Contemporary Christian music... Chuck Girard is a very special and talented man. His story is incredible and testament of God's grace and goodness. I greatly enjoy Chuck's visits. Visit him at: www.chuck.org  -Aug 10
It was BLONDE-DAY on The Brian Mason Show on August 3rd. Tammy Trent had just released her new CD, "Stronger". She is fun to hang out with. Later in the morning, Chrissy Katina (former ZOEgirl and wife of James Katina) came in to tell us about a Katina's concert coming up to help the Katina brothers go back to their homeland of American Samoa. A fun Sunday! Right pic: l-r: Chrissy Katina, me and Tammy Trent.
Every year we celebrate Keith Green's life and music. It's been 26 years now since Keith and 22 other people were killed in a small plane crash near his home at the Last Days Ministries ranch in Lindale, Texas. Joining us that morning were former pastor to the Last Days community (when they were still in California) and current pastor at The Vineyard-Nashville, Jerry Bryant. We also had the very distinct pleasure of talking with Keith's widow, Melody Green on the phone. -July 27
Buddy Greene and Pat Flynn were to perform a concert on the evening of July 20th. I invited them to start early and join us that morning. I'm very glad they did. You can find a video performance I shot of one of their songs (not an easy thing to do when you are hosting and running the board!) on YouTube. Left pic: l-r: Pat Flynn, me, and Buddy Greene.
Lisa Bevill is a good friend. Besides being a woman with an incredible voice, she shines in so many other areas. Besides loving God, she loves people. When Lisa came to visit on July 13th, we played the CD I've been hearing about for over a year, "When the Healing Comes". Visit Lisa at: www.lisabevill.com
I'm sure it's been well over 15 years since we've had a visit from David Meece (except for a very brief visit during GMA week). It was good to get caught up with this still very active Christian artist. Visit him at: www.davidmeece.com   -July 6
Always loving to have live music on the show, Ric Blair and the band was an easy invite. The Celtic-pop flair was a very welcome addition to the show on the morning of June 15th. I had forgotten to bring in my regular camera so this one was taken with my cell phone. Pic l-r: me, Melonie Parobek, Jeff Durham, and Ric Blair.
If this guy showed up every Sunday to be a part of the show, it would be just fine with me. A world-class guitar player- Phil Keaggy always brings us great music he's working on... usually before anyone else gets to hear it. I appreciate this man's friendship! -June 8
John Schlitt has had a most interesting life! In his music career, he was front-man for the rock group Head East. That life nearly destroyed him as he will tell you. He found Jesus and before long was lead singer for Petra. He's still going strong, now as a solo artist. John was with us on June 1st to share his brand new project, "The Grafting". Sitting next to John is super publicist, Benita Teems
Tragedy struck the community and particularly the family of Steven Curtis Chapman on May 21st when the Chapman's lost their 5 year old daughter, Maria. All of us wanted to know what we could do. I asked Steven's manager, Jim Houser to drop by and tell us how we as friends and fans could help the Chapman family. With Jim came Scott Hasenbalg, Executive Director for Shaohannah's Hope, the adoption and orphan care ministry founded by Steven and Mary Beth Chapman. Find out more about this great organization by visiting: www.ShowHope.org  -May 25
April 27th was a very special day at Mix 92.9... we moved into our new studio (just down the hall). Technology at its finest! Still lots of buttons to push! My guest on this inaugural Sunday was Jim Cole, always a welcome guest. www.jimcoleonline.com
GMA Sunday 2008!!! A very full morning indeed! At 7am, we got a visit from Steve Gilreath (producer of the Dove Awards) and John Styll (president of the Gospel Music Association)... pictured at right. At 8am, Eddie DeGarmo (pic left) spent an hour with us to talk about the great old days when DeGarmo & Key were together. As a very special treat, Dana Key called in from Memphis (Dana is now a pastor). The guys were getting together for a reunion concert after the Doves later that week.

At 9am, there was an incredible reunion of some true pioneers in Christian music. Tim Archer and his wife Cynthia produced a very wonderful DVD/CD set called "The Beginnings Concert"... a MUST for any long-time fan of Christian music. www.thebeginningsconcert.com  These guys all took part. I can't believe I thought we could spend ample time with each artist in just one hour. Left pic: l-r: Steve Archer, Don Francisco, David Meece, me, Dallas Holm, Tim Archer, and Chuck Girard. In the right photo, Dallas Holm had us cracked up!
On April 13th, the Nashville Soul Choir joined us to sing a few songs and tell us about an upcoming mission trip to Italy they planned. Front Row L-R: me, Miriam Cunningham-Mason, middle row: Kimmie Johnson, Blair Fleming, Danielle Jordan, Julie Branham (director), Terra Webb, Joy Todd, and back row: Marlisa Beene, Jan Harris, Darius Williams, Stephen Andrew, Robert Mauti.
I love the work being done at Mercy Ministries. Founded 25 years ago, Nancy Alcorn and her staff have been a part of some amazing transformations among young ladies needing some very special help. We were very happy to have with us on April 6th a couple of the girls residing at the Mercy home here in Nashville. This week was also kicking off the 25th anniversary celebration of Mercy Ministries'. Pic l-r: Nancy Alcorn, Kelly, me, Amanda, and staffer Hannah Crockett.
It was good to have Glenn Garrett on the show March 30th. This guy, although having been an active Christian music artist for many years is still very much in demand. Check him out at www.glenngarrett.com.
When the Glory Bugles visit this program... be very afraid! An upcoming (and daring!) 4 nights of concerts were planned for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. You know, I never thought I'd use the names "Glory Bugles" and "TPAC" in the same paragraph! One must witness the Glory Bugles if one hasn't yet! Pic l-r: Steve Pippin, Nan Gurley, me, Bonnie Keen, and Wayne Gurley. Visit: www.glorybugles.com ... if you dare!  -Mar 16
I love Avalon! These folks have been good friends of our show for years. They are always a blast! In this visit, we got to meet the "new guy", Jeremi Richardson. Pic l-r: Greg Long, Janna Long, me, Melissa Greene, and Jeremi Richardson.  -Mar 9
March 2nd was a very special day... both happy and sad. we were very happy to see our friend, Michael English again and spend a few hours with him. Earlier in the week, we learned of the death of music pioneer Larry Norman. I asked a few of Larry friends to join us during the last hour of the show. Steve Camp (a long-time friend of Larry's) and Jim Cole (a more recent acquaintance) were in the studio and Phil Keaggy called in from the road.
Vicky Beeching came to see us on February 10th.It was her first visit and I must say, I was really impressed. She brought her latest project for us to share, "Painting the Invisible". Visit Vicky at: www.vickybeeching.com
When I was a teenager growing up in Miami, Florida, I had no idea how much influence THIS guy was having on my young impressionable life. He worked for Capitol Records and was influencing not only what was being played on the radio, but what records I spent my precious allowance on. Ken Mansfield has had a vast career in the music business. Left eventually with nothing in this world, he met his wife, Connie. She introduced him to Jesus. Meet my friend Ken at: www.fabwhitebook.com . -Jan 27
Continuing on with a multi-year tradition.... Steve Camp paid us a visit on the first Sunday of the year. It is always good to get caught up with Steve and I look forward to his visits. There's lots to see on his web site... visit: www.a1m.org   -Jan 6
