25th Anniversary
If Only

In February of 1998, we found a new home for The Brian Mason Show at WJXA, The New Mix 92.9 in Nashville. Since that time, we've enjoyed the company of some very special people. Here are a few pictures of the guests we've had since moving...

Troy and Genie Nilsson have a very unique sound. They were the first guests after the move.
CHRIS RICE is a very nice guy!.. and a talent too! On the Sunday of his visit, we noticed that he was wearing the same shirt as he wore on the back of his CD. We took advantage of that in the picture below.

EDDIE DeGARMO dropped by our studio in April. For years Eddie was a part of the band, DeGarmo & Key. We talked about Christian music history and the celebration of 10 years of Forefront records, of which Eddie is an executive.

I've known LISA BEVILL since she was a teenager. I've watched her grow into a devoted wife and mom and a most talented singer. She's one of my favorites! She hosted the 4th annual "Place In The Sun" camp for teenage girls this summer. I so much appreciate her heart. Plus, SHE JUST MAKES THIS PICTURE LOOK BETTER!

My "twin", BOB BENNETT. I really love his visits to Nashville and our show. He never fails to crack me up.

The 18th anniversary of The Brian Mason Show was celebrated May 3rd of this year. CHRIS EATON performed on Sam's Place that night. As a surprise, my friends, STEVE GILREATH and singer/songwriter BILLY SPRAGUE performed a version of Billy's "Press On", which was appropriate the for occasion and also celebrated the move to Mix 92.9. (L-R below: Steve Gilreath, me, Chris Eaton, and Billy Sprague)

Michael W. Smith came by to share his new album, "Live the Life" on April 17. This guy has been a great friend to me and the show over the years.
STEVE GREEN had a rare concert in Nashville in April. Did you know that Steve was a former member of Whiteheart and the Gaither Vocal Band? In fact, he came up with both names. This is April 24.
RANDY STONEHILL visits Nashville way too infrequently for my taste. He was in town to perform at Sam's Place that night and we had a blast talking about everything from CCM history to his latest release, "Thirst". This is June 7.

TWILA PARIS was in town to tape a TV special. It was her only concert in 1998. We also premiered her new CD "Perennial" while we were at it.

If laughter is a good medicine, I am the healthiest person you know!... thanks in part to this guy, MARK LOWRY. On Saturday, June 27, I was in Atlanta watching Mark with the Gaither Vocal Band performing at the Georgia Dome. The next morning mark shared his brand new album "But Seriously" with us. Visit him at http://www.marklowry.com
July 5 brought POINT OF GRACE. At least 3 of the 4. These ladies (l-r: Terry Jones, Heather Floyd, and Shelly Breen) were to perform in Dallas the day before. They were rained out. They caught the last flight back to Nashville (missing "Point" Denise Jones missed the plane). They performed at Sam's Place that night.
Jeff Allen is a very funny man. Gary Chapman frequently has him on TNN's Prime Time Country and Sam's Place. Jeff dropped by to promote a TV special he was taping.
I think that one of the most important projects this year is The Jesus Record from Rich Mullins and the Ragamuffin Band. Some of the Ragamuffins joined us on July 26. l-r: photographer and filmmaker Ben Pearson, Jimmy Abeg, me, and producer Rick Elias.
Sam's Place Sunday, August 2nd brought Erin O'Donnell and her new CD. As an absolute bonus, Erin showed up with her mom, visiting from Florida.
There was quite a buzz about Michelle Tumes before her project released earlier this year. Once you hear her, you understand why... this Aussie's great! Michelle joined us on August 9th.
Phil Keaggy performed in Nashville on August 26th. We took advantage of that as well as the release of his new, self-titled CD. Always a great treat, Phil brought his guitar and performed songs from Keith Green and Rich Mullins.
Phil's a hero to me. My son, Christopher turned 15 on this Sunday (August 23rd). A very special thing took place right after the interview. Phil and Christopher broke out their guitars and sang Phil's current release, "Days Like You". What a treasure.
These two people mean a lot to me. FIRST CALL  (Bonnie King and Marty McCall) was on the show on Sept 6. Marty, by the way, was my first guest in 1980 when he was in the group FIREWORKS.
Our show loves the work of Nashville's Crisis Pregnancy Support Center. Lucy Freed (center) is the CPSC's Exec. Director. October 4 was a day to talk about the 14th annual "Run For Life". l-r: Steve Gilreath, me, Gary Chapman, and Daniel Butler in the front.
I really enjoy visits from SHEILA WALSH. I love her voice. She's from Scotland, you know! Oct 11, she came by to premiere her latest project, "Hope".
Minnesota now has something else to be proud of... this is CLEAR. They came by on Oct 18 with their not-yet-released project and played live for us.
Nov 8 brought us a gang from Nashville's Brentwood Academy. They were on hand to tell us about a Habitat For Humanity house they are building and a benefit concert featuring, among others, PHIL KEAGGY. l-r: Rachel Coley, me, Phil, Mary Lewis, and Adam Rosenbaum.
(Yes, that's a flamingo Rachel's holding... don't ask!)
If you have ever enjoyed the music of Rich Mullins, chances are it was produced by this guy, REED ARVIN. Reed produced Rich's first 8 records. He was with us on Nov 15 to talk about Reunion Record's Rich Mullins tribute project.

Michael Card was one of the show's first live guests. I hadn't seen him in a while and invited him in to catch up. I also hadn't seen Michelle Pillar in a long while. She dropped by for a few minutes to talk about the Angel Monday concert she was helping to put together. This was November 22.

A few pictures above (Nov 8), a gang from Brentwood Academy were in to promote a Habitat For Humanity benefit concert. This is from the morning of that concert... one of the headliners: OUT OF THE GREY (Christine and Scott Dente') Nov 29

The Sunday before Christmas brought old friends to the show. Pictured next to me is John Tinker, account exec with Sparrow Records and from Raleigh, NC's WRAL, David Crabtree.

This is Eli, he is new to the CCM scene. I have no idea why we waited so long to get him on the program. He did some live music and told us his incredible story.

Some Eli admirers dropped by as well: Jeremy, Stephanie, and Brandon Howard with Eli.

One of my best friends: David Crabtree
