The 90's

Through the 90's, we've seen lots of people in our studios on The Brian Mason Show... below are just a few...

AMY GRANT was one of the first guests on the show back in the early 80's. This picture was taken in 1991 when "Heart In Motion" was first out. "Baby, Baby" was number one!
It's no secret that PHIL KEAGGY is one of my favorites. Each time Phil visits, he shares great unreleased recordings with me and my audience. Visits with Phil are very special!
We celebrated our 12th anniversary in 1992. GLEN CAMPBELL dropped by for a visit.
In April 1997, we received a visit from GROVER LEVY. MICHAEL W. SMITH also dropped by with his family on their way to church.
AVALON joined us after their 1st album was released. These are talented people! OK... even Jim Houser (Sparrow records) on the right!
GARY CHAPMAN was our show's very first live guest in April of 1982. This is the busiest man I know. I am proud to call him my friend. This is September 1997.
Speaking of Gary, we premiered "Songs From The Loft" in 1993 L-R: Susan Ashton, me, Amy Delaine, Gary Chapman, and Amy Grant.
In December 1990, I began the Brian Mason TV Show. It was great fun. We did 3 hours live on the radio... an hour off... and then 2 hours live on TV.
THE IMPERIALS began in 1964. They sang backup for Elvis and so many others over the years. This was the group in 1991. Original member Armand Morales, Jonathan Pierce (now solo), Pam Morales, Dave Wills, and me.
I first met KATHY TROCCOLI when she moved to Nashville and worked at Koinonia Bookstore while waiting for the "music thing" to happen.
In January of 1997, I was asked to host a radio special for OUT OF THE GREY. Friends dropped by... L-R: Phil Keaggy, Wes King, Christine & Scott Dente' (Out of the Gray), Susan Ashton, and me.
In March 1997, Nashville saw POINT OF GRACE and 4HIM at the arena. Pictured here are the Nashville residents in both groups: Marty McGehee, Heather Floyd, me, Shelly Breen, and Denise Jones.
In my opinion, this is one of the best female vocalists there is, Becca Jackson.
One of my favorite groups of all time is (was) PFR. I flew to their home town, Minneapolis in September of 1996 for their last concert. L-R: Patrick Andrew (PFR), Kyle Fenton (radio promoter), me, Joel Hanson (PFR), and Mark Nash (PFR).
A year later, Sparrow records released a "best of" on PFR. They reassembled for my show. That's our friend, Mark Smeby (the 5th PFR) hiding in the back.

GMA (Gospel Music Association) week Sunday in 1997 brought many visitors to the show... here's my friend BRUCE CARROLL.

AUDIO ADRENALINE was there...

...and so was this little lady. CRYSTAL LEWIS. She is a dynamo! No wonder she picked up this year's Dove award for Female Vocalist of the Year.

Here's PHIL KEAGGY again, visiting in 1997.
This is my friend REBECCA ST. JAMES. I am very proud of this young lady.

I took this picture of my daughter, Sarah and fellow Veggie-Tale lover, Becca McCrady backstage at the DCTalk concert in Birmingham. Oh yeah, that's Kevin Smith from DCTalk.... excuse me... it's KEVIN MAX from DCTalk.

During the 1996 Dove Awards, I had the pleasure of taking in part in the pre- and -post Dove show. Here I am interviewing GARY CHAPMAN after he won "Male Artist of the Year" (Note: Terry Jones from Point of Grace and her husband Chris behind us.)

Speaking of the Doves, look who I shared a dressing room with!!!

Sam's Place, with host Gary Chapman, is always a blast! Generally you can expect the unexpected. Like the night in 1996 when Gary's guest included FATHER GUIDO SARDUCI. He was great!

This show goes down on my book as a favorite. I was so pleased that BILL GAITHER flew into town just to do my show. He promoted one of his incredible "reunion" shows at the Nashville Arena. Of course, MARK LOWRY was on hand to keep things from getting dull! Check Mark's web site: http://www.marklowry.com

In December of 1997, ERIN O'DONNELL joined us. I really enjoyed her first album, partly due to her producer, my friend, CHRIS RODRIQUEZ (on the left).

One of Nashville's favorite sons, CHARLIE DANIELS, spent a Sunday morning with us on his way to church. He autographed this Polaroid for me.

OK, I now know someone from North Dakota! It's GREG LONG. He was in premiering his latest project, "Jesus Saves".

I think the world of MORGAN CRYAR and enjoy his visits. This is mid January and the second to last show on WLAC-FM.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but this was a very sad day. The last show on WLAC-FM. CHERI KEAGGY definitely brightened the day!

The last show on WLAC-FM was January 25, 1998. We made the announcement on the air at the end of the show. The next day, I heard from two Nashville radio stations about moving the show. We took three Sundays off and moved to MIX 92.9 . Our first Sunday there was February 22nd.

The following are random shots from that last morning on WLAC-FM.

My nephew, Jamie Napier looks on as Tiffany Thorpe and Cheri Keaggy wait for "the end".

My sister Judie hugs my son Andy.
